Case study 13

Tracey was born with a microphthalmic  right eye. She was teased at school to the point where she lost all self-confidence and belief. This affected her attitude to life and her education, and she became a miserable teenager with anorexia and bulimia. Things improved for Tracey after her eye was enucleated at age 21 and she had happier times in her twenties.  Now in her 40’s, Tracey is forward looking and enthusiastic about her job as a systems manager. She has accepted that there are many more important things in her life than worrying about her eye.
