1978 Dental Laboratory

Keith Pine left Middlemore Hospital in 1978 to set up Keith Pine & Associates’ dental laboratory at Milford on Auckland’s North Shore. The new company provided a full range of dental appliances to the local dental profession and was the first dental laboratory in New Zealand to export crowns and bridges to Australian dentists. The provision of facial prosthetics (mostly prosthetic eyes) was a special feature of the laboratory and reflected Pine’s continuing interest in this discipline. The laboratory also produced theatreprosthetics and doubled as an office for Pine Construction and Development Ltd during the 1980s.
